Την Πέμπτη 10 Αυγούστου 2017 η Μπάντα της Φιλαρμονικής Εταιρείας Κερκύρας θα πραγματοποιήσει συναυλία στο πλαίσιο των εκδηλώσεων για την επέτειο της λύσης της πολιορκίας της Κέρκυρας το 1716. Η συναυλία θα ξεκινήσει με το εμβατήριο «Festa Delle Rocce» του Van Troyan και αμέσως μετά θα ακολουθήσει η εισαγωγή από την οπερέτα του Franz von Suppe «Πρωί, μεσημέρι και βράδυ στη Βιέννη» σε μεταγραφή του Henry Fillmore. Στο πλαίσιο της επέτειου των 100 χρόνων από το θάνατο του Σπύρου Σαμάρα, θα ακουστεί ο «Χορός των Ανθέων» από την όπερά του «Flora Mirabilis». Επετειακό κλίμα ακολουθεί και ο «Χωριάτικος χορός» από τη 2^η πράξη της όπερας «Ο υποψήφιος» του Σπυρίδωνος Ξύνδα, μιας και φέτος συμπληρώνονται 150 χρόνια από την πρεμιέρα της και 200 χρόνια από τη γέννηση του συνθέτη της. Ο συγκεκριμένος χορός, μάλιστα, βασίστηκε στην πρόσφατη επετειακή έκδοση του έργου από τη Φιλαρμονική και τρόπον τινά προετοιμάζει και την πρώτη μετά από 146 έτη παρουσίασή του στην αρχική μορφή του στις 4 και 5.11.2017 στην Κέρκυρα. Στη συναυλία θα ακουστούν επίσης πρωτότυπα έργα για μπάντα, όπως το «Celebration Fanfare» του Steven Reineke και το «Oregon» του Jacob De Haan. Στην ίδια συναυλία θα αποδωθούν και μια επιλογή για μπάντα του Σπύρου Μαυρόπουλου βασισμένο σε μουσική και τραγούδια του Διονύση Σαββόπουλου, όπως επίσης και γνωστές μελωδίες από το Παρίσι και τη Μονμάρτη μέχρι και τον Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart σε μεταγραφή του Toshio Mashima.

On Thursday, 10^th August 2017, a concert will be held by the Symphonic Band of the Philharmonic Society of Corfu in the framework of the festivities for the siege of Corfu in 1716. The concert will start with the march «Festa Delle Rocce» composed by Van Troyan and the overture to Franz von Suppé's operetta “Morning, Noon, and Night” will follow, arranged for wind band by Henry Fillmore. Celebrating the anniversary of 100 years from the death of Spyros Samaras, the symphonic band will perform the “Danza dei Fiori” from his opera “Flora Mirabilis”. A double anniversary to commemorate is also the 200 years from the birth of the composer Spyridon Xyndas on the one hand and the 150 years of the premiere of his opera “The Parliamentary Candidate” on the other. From the second act of this opera comes the “Choriaticos horos” (dance of the peasants), the arrangement of which was based on the recent anniversary edition of the whole opera (published by the Philharmonic Society of Corfu). It serves as a precursor of the performances of the 4^th and the 5^th November 2017, when the whole opera will be staged in Corfu in its initial form after 146 years. The concert also features music composed exclusively for wind band, such as the “Celebration Fanfare” and “Oregon” composed by Steven Reineke and Jacob De Haan accordingly, as well as a medley of music and tunes of Dionysis Savopoulos arranged for concert band by Spyros Mavropoulos, popular French music from Paris and Monmartre, and music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart arranged by Toshio Mashima.

The concert will take place at the Palco, Spianada Square and it starts at 9 p.m.
